Our president, CEO, and project manager is Katie Maiella. Katie achieved an Associate of Science degree with an emphasis in communications. While pursuing her degree at Vol State, she directed, produced, and edited a television show entitled "Career Directions." Katie commissioned staff photographers to photograph guests that appeared on the show. It featured prominent celebrities in the Music field. It's goal was to demonstrate the connection with education and success in the Music Industry. "Career Directions" ended up being an exciting departure from typical first productions which tend to be dry. While producing, Katie was a staff member for two years at the College's magazine called "The Pioneer." While their she assisted journalism staff with her communications skills. She also taught video classes for at risk students at an after school program.
Prior to completing her Associates degree, Katie was an accomplished singer and successfully produced, prerecorded, mastered, and marketed her own debut album "One More Bridge." As an independent recording artist for Spur Records, Katie's vocal performance and production skills astounded major labels due to the high quality production of the project and her exceptional talent. Katie's album and follow-up albums sold out at Fan Fair for three years in a row! She has also opened for name acts such as Faith Hill and Rick Trevino.
Katie is also an accomplished writer/publisher with articles appearing in a variety of trade magazines.
As a videographer, director, producer, and editor, Katie produces documentaries, commercials and music videos. She was even a morning radio personality at one time and was known as Sunshine Kate. Perhaps her video and radio skills contributed to her outstanding ability to do voice over's, commercial productions, and jingles. Some of Katie's original music and poetry has also received a number of accolade's. Again, on the creative side, Katie incorporates e-commerce into web designs. To say she enjoys media and computers is an understatement. She appreciates the transition from analogue to digital because it includes computers in various aspects of media and production.
Presently, she is completing her Bachelors' degree in Human Resources and would like to teach at a college level. She advocates and mentors to learning challenged adults. Katie guides and encourages them to pursue an education or technical certifications. She believes that education provides the best hope to prepare the learning challenged and disabled for future careers. More importantly, she encourages them to become independent business owners. As a result of her interests, she has chosen to do a project thesis on creating an assistive media library that incorporates digital technology.
The college Katie presently attends, challenges students to participate in the creation of a project thesis. Her project entails helping an educational institution acquire and create an assistive media technology library. Katie's goal is to help connect the institution with the needs of learning challenged students. Ultimately, she hopes the institution will be able to utilize her project to acquire grants or to pull enough resources together to create the digital assistive media library.
